MEET A CHANGE MAKING AUDIENCE
Mile 19 Community Leadership Retreat Follow-up Meetings are organized to interest and involve the whole community and attracts national and international attention. It serves as a meeting place for leadership to demonstrate commitment at the grassroots, reflect on issues facing the community and our world, engage and learn from one another and the community. Exhibits in strategically located booth space and poster displays are an integral part of the educational process at the Retreat Follow-up Meetings.
Participants come prepared to the Mile 19 Community Leadership Retreat Follow-up Meeting with progress reports, plans and other ideas to present, discuss and decide on. The Mile 19 Community Council alone, for example, plans to spend 120-150 million CFA francs (US$600-750,000) over the next three years on articulated issues and solutions - in education, agriculture, water, housing, health, the environment, ICTs, etc. With record participation expected, Mile 19 Community Leadership Retreat Follow-up Meetings will continue to serve as a resource for individuals, groups, organisations and businesses, with responsibilities for appropriation and programme developments in households and communities, public and/or private institutions such as schools, farms, community clinics and libraries. The Meeting also serves to orient policy away from corruption to good democratic governance that promotes economic development through competitive market regulation.
